Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir William Dickson. Cover depicts Sir William Dickson. Chief of the Air Staff 1953 to 1956, Chief of the Defence Staff 1958 to 1959. Blue flown cachet flown in Dominie XS 730 of No 6 Flying Training School from RAF Finningley over the flight path taken by Captain F W Dickson on 19th July 1918 when together with 6 other Sopwith Camel Pilots he flew from HMS Furious to take part in the first strategic bombing raid from an aircraft carrier which resulted in the destruction of Zeppelins L54 and L60 at Tondern in Schleswig Holstein. Personally Signed by Group Captain W Mc C Rae Officer Commanding Royal Air Force Finningley and Wing Commander L Hakin Officer Commanding Support Flying Wing.
