An electrotype relief oval panel, entitled La Paix 1815, signed indistinctly, gilt and ebonised frame, panel 34 x 29cm.
La Paix (Peace), also referred to as La Paix de 1815 (The Pace of 1815), adorns the lower section of the northwest pillar of the Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile, facing Avenue de la Grand-Armeé in Paris. The sculptured high relief, executed by Antoine Etex, represents the return of peace after the Treaty of Paris in 1815 which brought an end to Napoléon's attempt to return to power during the One Hundred Days.
