£3,000
An early 20th century French brooch/pendant, the Art Nouveau brooch with central depiction of maiden with plique a jour background surmounted by old cut diamond border and further pearls, highlighted with oval cut sapphire and ruby with conforming pearl drop, stamped with French marks, 4cm long, 12gms, within fitted Hancocks and Co box, accompanied by copy of Hancocks insurance valuation valued for £8,500 (dated 1992)
Please note, we believe the piece to be stamped with the 'Weevil' mark (export mark) to hinge pin and loop of hinge pin.
The piece tests towards the '18k' area of the KEE gold tester.
All stones are present throughout the brooch.
Sapphire and ruby are both of rich saturated colour, with minor inclusions present to the stones (see with x10 loupe)
Diamonds are all well matched in colour, bright and lively stones.
Minor inclusions can also be seen to the diamonds, with x10 loupe, they are eye clear in our opinion.
Suspended pearl and pearls to top all show very minor blemishes to surface, and one shows more obvious mark to reverse.
The yellow metal mount shows general surface scuffs, scratches, discolouration and blemishes, commensurate with age and use.
Settings are low and show wear in some areas.
Plique a jour background shows very minor bubble looking blemishes, only seen with x10 loupe - would also benefit from a clean.
Hinge pin in good working condition.
Box with no major signs of wear.
General surface scuffs, blemishes and scratches seen throughout, commensurate with age and wear.
