On the reverse flown cachet flown on 3 training flights 22 Feb 91 RAF Lossiemouth to RAF Kinloss on a Sea King, 22 Feb 91 from RAF Kinloss to RAF Kinloss on a Nimrod and 1 March 1991 from RAF Leuchars to RAF Leuchars Wessex. Personally Signed by Flt lt Cruickshank VC Awarded the Victoria Cross on 1 September 1944 while flying Catalina Aircraft with No 210 Squadron. Flt. Lt. W. Reid VC Victoria Cross holder. 61 Squadron RAFVR. Awarded the VC for bravery during a raid on Dusseldorf Germany on 3rd November 1943. Despite being severely wounded, continued to fly his damaged Lancaster bomber to bomb Dusseldorf. Managed to land his aircraft safely upon return. Details enclosed.
