A large Japanese late Meiji period (1868-1912) Satsuma pottery vase of slender baluster form, probably by Ryokuzan, with a flared rim above a neck enamelled and gilded with birds, fruit and flowers, the body decorated in high relief with a Bijin musician standing on the back of a dragon amongst foamy waves, marked to base, professsional restoration in places, height 56cm approx.
