A large Japanese late Meiji period (1868-1912) Satsuma pottery vase of slender baluster form, probably by Ryokuzan, with a flared rim above a neck enamelled and gilded with birds, fruit and flowers, the body decorated in high relief with a Bijin musician standing on the back of a dragon amongst foamy waves, marked to base, professsional restoration in places, height 56cm approx.
Small black mark to top rim and black pitting to inner neck, areas of professional restoration to keyboard, dragons horns, some nibbles to sea foam
