Eva Anna Paula Hitler ne Eva BRAUN, (6 February 1912 - 30 April 1945), Eva Braun married Adolf Hitler shortly before their joint suicides and was a woman almost unknown to the German people until after her death; her importance to Hitler is often underestimated and he remained loyal to her for many years. Braun was employed by Heinrich Hoffmann, the official photographer for the Nazi Party, and through him met Hitler. After the death of Geli Raubal Hitler and Braun became close and were together at the end. By 1936 she was part of Hitler's household at the Berghof near Berchtesgarten whenever he was in residence and in 1938 Hitler named her as his heir. The correspondence in the following two lots relate to Hanni Morell, (ne Hannelore ''Hanni'' Moller, a former actress), the wife of Theodor Morell, who was to become Hitler's personal physician. Theodor Gilbert Morell (July 22, 1886 - May 26, 1948) well known in Germany for his unconventional and alternative treatments. It is suggested that Eva Braun introduced Hitler to Dr. Theordore Morell in 1936. Morell gave Hitler questionable medication and in doing so may have considerably altered his state of mind. It could be said that without Morell the course of the war might have been drastically altered. The two lots here, a personal card from Braun to Hanni Morell and a handwritten letter provide clues to a friendly relationship between Braun and Mrs. Morell. These two lots were brought into a valuation day by a local woman who wishes to remain anonymous; her mother married a man from Nottingham who had acquired the correspondence towards the end of the war. Eva BRAUN, Germany, the Third Reich, 14th April 1937, her personalised folded EB card c7''x4.5'', in Braun's hand and signed by her, to Hanni Morell, wife of Doctor Theodor MorellÂ… in which Braun apologises for not replying earlier and refers to her visit to Obersalzberg with an un-named female friend. Clearly from the text Morell had extended several invitations to Braun. Braun continues that they will meet in Bavaria and ends with hearty greeting to Doctor Morell; with envelope addressed Dm H. Morell, Berlin W50, Kurfurstendamm 216, and to back the printed initials EB, and the handwritten return address E Braun, Munchen, Wasserburgestr 12, postmaked Berchtesgarten 15/4/37, the envelope complete but only fair, the card good
