A Chinese Famille Verte Porcelain 'Narrative Scene' Barber's Basin, Kangxi Mark. -
A Chinese Famille Verte porcelain barber's basin, possibly dating to the Kangxi period. The large, shallow basin features rich polychrome enamel decoration in the *famille verte* style. The interior is prominently decorated with a detailed narrative scene depicting multiple robed figures amidst a mountainous landscape with pine trees and two stylized animal figures, rendered in vibrant greens, blues, reds, yellows, and browns. The wide interior rim displays a band of complex floral and geometric motifs with red bat-like elements. The exterior base is sparsely adorned with delicate floral sprays in pinks, yellows, and greens. The underside reveals a six-character underglaze blue reign mark within a double circle, which translates to "Made in the Great Qing Kangxi period" (大清康熙年製).
