Christopher Dresser for Richard Hodd and Sons, an Aesthetic Movement silver plated sugar bowl, 1878, twin handled angled baluster form, stamped marks and design registration diamond, 6.5cm high, 11cm wide Note: some of Dresser's earliest designs were produced by the Hatton Garden firm of Richard Hodd and Sons, prior to the Hukin and Heath showcase of designs in 1879. This bowl is part of a well known Dresser designed tea set; a service of this design including the bowl was exhibited at Hereford Museum & Art Gallery The Art & Craft of Design: An Exhibition of Work by Christopher Dresser 20th January-3rd March 2007; See Bonhams, New York, 19th December 2007 for an example of a three piece tea set of this design; also Christie's Harry Lyons Collection, 19th October 2004, lot 315 for an example of the kettle from this service.
