ASHDOWN, Clifford (pseud R. Austin Freeman and John James Pitcairn). 'The Queens Treasure' Typescript with text to recto, ink corrections throughout, pagination written in graphite to top corner, pp.317, house plan and map of ground floor, first floor, and surrounding villages loosely inserted, quarter cloth with printed label to front board, [c.1905]. Thought to be Pitcairn's original manuscript from the 'Pitcairn Family Papers', purchased from a charity auction in Truro (Pitcairn retired to Truro). The style is certainly Pitcairn's own with the prose bearing no trace of Freeman, with Miss Siton being corrected from 'Staple' throughout (xi, introduction to published edition).
