LUX MARMACA CERAMIC (Mid Century) (Hand Painted) TWIN HANDLED 19cm DECANTER FEATURING CREAM-COLOURED BODY With A COLOURFUL FLORAL DESIGN And CORK STOPPER.
Marmaca was a prominent Italian ceramics factory located in the Republic of San Marino, active between 1947 and 1964. It is considered one of the most important factories in the recent history of the tiny republic, recognized for pioneering modern, creative, and innovative ceramic designs, particularly in the post-war era.
The factory was founded in 1947 through a partnership between Luigi Masi, Fillipo Martelli, and Wilfredo Carlin.
In 1948, the company grew with the addition of partners Antonio Meoni, Luigi Agosteo, and Dino Diomedi, who came from the renowned Richard-Ginori factory in San Cristoforo. By 1949, Marmaca employed nearly 200 people and had established a global clientele, sparking a boom in the San Marino ceramic industry.
Marmaca was known for its innovative approach, often blending traditional Italian majolica techniques with modern designs. Their production focused heavily on art pottery, hand-molded and hand-decorated figurines, and unique decorative decanters.
Common products included stylized animal figures, mid-century modern vases, and hand-painted scenics, often using raised glazes or bold colors.
By the early 1950s, the success of Marmaca inspired the creation of other influential factories in San Marino, including Titano, which was founded by former Marmaca employees.)
