A school tawse by John J. Dick of Lochgelly, of heavyweight leather
The tawse is in generally good condition. It measures just over 60cm in length and weighs approx. 158g, the leather being 8mm thick.
The tawse remains fairly supple, though the leather is fairly dehydrated. The are scuffs and marks along much of its length, with one deeper gouge between the maker's stamp and where the tails separate. The underside of the tawse is of a rough finish.
