Attributed to Sir Godfrey Kneller (German/ British, 1646-1723) - Portrait of Charles Talbot (1660-1718), as 12th Earl of Shrewsbury, in armour and bewigged, his armorial with lion rampant against blue background at the left - Oil on canvas - 69 x 59cm (oval) - 90 x 80cm framed - One of the storage labels to the reverse is of Cheltenham and dated 1912 - Provenance: Passed down in the family from the vendor's grandfather, together with reputedly two further portraits by Kneller (the Talbot family were relatives of the vendor's family, who originated from Hertfordshire)
