The bowl is part of Moorcroft's Beauty Revered 2016 collection. Beauty Revered brings together three exquisite birds whose extreme beauty is highly prized and considered elusive. Fantastically, this is a fusion of the design style, and sombre colours of Dutch pottery, Rosenberg, coupled with the light and airy colours from the silk paintings of Chinese emperors. Historically, Chinese emperors used to see art through elemental colours representing energies: black (conserving), red (expansive) green (generative), yellow (stabilising) and white (contracting). With utter genius, Kerry creates balance by grounding her collection in small amounts of black, said to be a neutral colour, and then uses white or cream as a foreground colour to symbolise Taiji or Yin and Yang. As if marking the Chinese New Year, primary colours erupt into the designs. The result is a Moorcroft Collection in the highest echelons.
