Milne (Alan Alexander), a handwritten letter to "Babs" from A.A. Milne on Trinity College Cambridge headed blue paper, dated 3.vi.47,
It reads
"Coo- isn't this grand dearest Babs. Specially provided of Moon, his last piece but one.
I got to Cambridge at 11.20 just when the King did. Not being allowed to go to the station (in case Moon was waiting for me there) - police and A.A. people all very stern- I left my bag at my hotel, sent (?illegible) back and walked to Trinity. Alas, no Moon in his room, but the unopened telegram; which meant that he was searching the station for me - in that heat! He waited for a train which arrived at 12 (starting overnight, I imagine) and then toiled back - to find me in shirt sleeves on his bed just getting cool again.
It is now 10.30pm, and we are waiting for the fireworks at 11. St nally is cooler I think. What I half wanted to say was Thank you Darling for putting up with me so sw??ly. You are a blessed pair, and I am most grateful to you. All my love, and don't forget that you are looking in for a long drink on June 15th. Right? Good. Ever. Blue"
This letter comes from the direct descendants of Vincent Seligman's family, Vincent Julian Seligman was a descendant of a German Jewish mercantile family that emigrated to the USA and London in the 19th century. Vincent’s father ran the London bank Seligman Brothers; his mother came from an artistic and musical family (and had an affair with Puccini).

Vincent Seligman and Milne became lifelong friends although it is uncertain how and where they first met, and along with Vincent's wife Barbara, became close. In 1923 Seligman dedicated his book, Oxford Oddities, to A.A. Milne and, soon after the publication of the Pooh books, Milne gave prototypes of Pooh and Piglet soft toys to Barbara.
