1962 BSA Rocket Gold Star, Clubman trim, 650cc. Registration number 557 HKB. Frame number GA 10533. Engine number DA10R 7768, V5C states DA10R 14215.
Sold with V5C, V5, VE60, seven old MOT's.
Launched in February 1962, the RGS used a tuned A10 Super Rocket engine with a 9:1 compression, Spitfire camshaft, and Amal carb, producing some 50 bhp, the frame was similar to the Gold Star, without a kink and prefixed GA10. The engine cases are stamped 'HHC' denoting that this unit was originally built incorporating the Spitfire high-lift camshaft and high-compression pistons. Options such as the RRT2 gearbox, drop bars, Superleggia top yoke and Siamesed pipes were available. It is believed some 1,580 bikes were produced and it is one of the most copied British bikes with a lot of look a likes out there. Production ended in 1963 with the unit construction A65.
HKB is a low owner bike, David Pye in Liverpool in 1972, then John Davies of Knowsley before our vendors father bought it in 1987. On his passing it became our vendors in 2016. At some point the cases have been changed as the engine threw a conrod, DVLA were not notified. It has been dry stored for many years. This highly original machine will need recommissioning.
