A THREE CLASP INDIA MEDAL TO THE NORTHAMPTONSHIRE REGIMENT. An India medal 1895-1902 with clasps for Punjab Frontier 1897-98, Samana 1897 and Tirah 2897-98 named to 3888 Pte J. Hurry 1st Bn North'n Regt. John Hurry was born in Peterborough attested for the Northamptonshire Regiment at Northampton on the 24th January 1893 having previously served with the Militia in the 4th Battalion of the Regiment. Lance Corporal from August 1895 and serving with the 1st Battalion in India, he quickly reverted to Private at his own request. Lance Corporal again in 1904 he returned to the UK in 1905 and on the Reserve by April 1905. Back in service for the Great War he served with the 2st Battalion of the Cambridgeshire Regiment with numbers 1535 and 325235. He was badly wounded in May 1915 when he was hit in the left shoulder, abdomen, and lost his left eye. Seriously wounded or not on recovery he served as a Corporal with the 1st Reserve Garrison Battalion of the Suffolk Regiment. With extensive copied research including official papers, medal index card and many other documents.
