£700
A Victorian sailor's shellwork valentine or love token, late 19th century, modelled with a central heart motif within a scalloped border, in octagonal glazed frame, 35cm wide (at fault)
The piece shows losses to the shells in several areas, and a small accumulation of shell fragments at the bottom of the frame. The majority of the shells appear to be attached to the backboard, but the whole piece is quite fragile and should be handled with care. The shell colours are likely to have faded somewhat over time. The frame appears to be structurally sound.
