Victorian black papier mâché gilt and mother of pearl desk stand with integral stamp box and pen wells, with two later blue glass inkwells, with velvet tooled pull-out writing slide and drawer, 9cm high, 31cm wide and 23.5cm deep.
The gilding is rubbed across the entire top, in particular along the edges and borders. Mother of pearl inlay is chipped and cracked surrounding the inkwells. The inkwells' velvet vase is faded and lifting. The lid is misshapen and damaged on the right hand inkwell resulting in the inability to close. The side plans and lower border are rubbed. The inlaid tooled border of the interior velvet tray is lacking to areas.
