A rare original carbon copy of the typed letter written by General Montgomery in July 1943 addressed to the Eighth Army confirming the extension of the war into Italy. It was delivered in the context of the Allied Invasion of Sicily known as Operation Husky. These letters were subsequently printed & posted across the world to all commanders of relevant troops. It is likely that this carbon copy was produced for a very select group of people and office staff or for the printers prior to mass printing of the document.
