The first British assembled prototype took the air on 9th April 1969 from Filton landing at Fairford Glos, subsequently its base. Registered out of sequence G - BSST ( Indicating British Supersonic Transport ) it represents an important milestone in Anglo - French collaboration to provide a Mach 2 airliner utilising conventional light alloys in the main and exploiting the combination of good high speed/low speed qualities of a slender delta wing. After completing its development task of 83518 hours in the air ( 437 flights, 196 of them supersonic ) Mr Brian Trubshaw and his crew from BAC delivered the Aeroplane to RNAS Yeovilton on 4th March 1976, this cover is issued to mark the occasion of Concorde 002 transfer to a permanent berth alongside the FAA Museum, where it is to be on display to the public. 10p stamp and Personally Signed by Brian Trubshaw Concorde Test Pilot, also Signed by Vice Admiral Sir Peter Austin KCB Flag Officer Naval Air Command.
