A George IV brass bound rosewood rectangular campaign writing box, fitted interior, flush military handles, c.1825. Including Holy Bible, Book of Common Prayer, and leather and hand-painted wallet and business cards belonging to former owner.

The box and contents formerly belonged to Lieutenant-Colonel John Hopton (Dutton Hunt), 1858-1934. Hopton was known to have had one of the best rifle shots in his day and competed in the the 1908 Summer Olympics for rifle shooting. He was also director of the Royal Academy of Music and composed a popular standard of the early 20th century, Ceylon Whispers, Waltz. Hopton resided at Canon Frome Court, Herefordshire.
