A CHINESE PORCELAIN FAMILLE ROSE 'FIGURES' SNUFF BOTTLE
bearing a four character 'Maochun Yazi' mark to the base, c.1800-1830, decorated with a continuous scene from 'The Venerable Master Qiu's Encounter with Fairies', the neck with a band of pendant lappets, the shoulder and foot with a border of formalised Lingzhi, 8.5cm high overall
Note: Maochun is the name of a private Jingdezhen enameller of excellent quality. There are only a few known bottles bearing his signature, primarily in famille rose enamels such as this. He signed his name at a time when no other enamellers did. Maochun's subject matter was limited and often repeated. Other examples are in prestigious international collections like the Franz Collection and the Marakovic Collection.
