A Collection of Novelty and Character Ceramic Egg Cups
A varied collection of novelty egg cups constructed from glazed ceramic and earthenware. The group features an assortment of character-based designs primarily from late 20th-century popular culture, including molded three-dimensional examples depicting Bart and Homer Simpson, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, a yellow chick, and various caricature heads. Other cups are of standard form with printed decorative decals, including motifs for Snoopy, Eeyore, the TARDIS from Doctor Who, and Paddington Bear. Visible inscriptions and markings include Eeyore, Paddington, and DINO-EGGS on a Wilma Flintstone themed cup. One piece carries a printed copyright mark for © MATTHEW CORBETT. The collection displays a range of decorative techniques including hand-painting and transfer printing.
