3 original ink line drawings by Dutch artist Piet Sluis (b.1929) featuring two portraits and a sailboat all dating to 2007. Sluis works in a naive style emblematic of the Dutch CoBrA movement of which he is an emissary. These gestural line drawings capture a lot of character and movement in a minimalist style. Drawings such as these are valued at €250 each in Sluis' extensive auction history.
Sluis moved to Ireland in the 1950s bringing the unique CoBrA style with him. He and his contemporaries would use COBRA’s pro-figurative ethos to mount a challenge to Dublin’s 1960s infatuation with bland, corporate abstraction.
