ROSS & CAMERONS WHISKY BARREL WITH HIGHLANDER STOPPER. WG p246. Approx 22ins tall to top of stopper (stopper 11.4ins tall). Multi coloured Doulton Lambeth artware stoneware barrel shape dispenser very strikingly topped with an exceptional, very detailed, uniformed highlander. The barrel with three dominant deep blue glaze horizontal bands emblazoned with ornate acorn & leaf sprigs, three brown barrel hoops between, having raised lettering ROSS & CAMERONS above. Central salt glazed, detailed, barley sprig like cartouche, HIGHLAND WHISKY below, white lettered TRADE MARK above lower lineage. Notwithstanding the highly impressive & colourful barrel is the most incredibly hand modelled salt glazed highlander in full regalia, shield held one side & sword in other. The overall detail of this is of the very highest standard. UISGE BETHA (Gaelic for water of life) in raised letters just above the bottom cork section plinth. This remains the only recorded undamaged example known. We cannot give enough superlatives to this lot - possibly the worlds finest whisky ceramic ever offered anywhere? An impeccable & highly impressive one-off to top any specialist whisky jug collection.
