LARGE BELLARMINE/ BARTMANN JUG. 10ins tall. Superb large size jug with quite benign mask featuring an extremely unusual cartouche which seemingly represents a Bishop�s mitre - never seen another such? Deeply modelled bearded face to neck. Condition is superb, super crude, wonderful variating salt glaze, tiny base edge nibbles (possibly contemporary) but otherwise no damage or restoration whatsoever. Marine worm encrustations under base indicate recovery from the sea.
