A Hockley Lamp and Limelight Company Brass Miner's Safety Lamp
A single brass miner's safety lamp attributed to the Hockley Lamp and Limelight Company. The lamp is constructed with a cylindrical brass body, a protective glass globe surrounding the burner element, and a fixed brass carrying hook attached to the upper perforated ventilation cap. An oval brass plaque is riveted to the main body, inscribed "LAMP & LIMELIGHT COMPANY HOCKLEY" around the perimeter. The central fields of the plaque are blank, designated for "COLLIERY NO." and "SERIAL NO."
