HA32 Capt W L Robinson VC Signed Vermehren Zeppelin, 2 Luftwaffe, 1 USA Ace. Personally Signed by Captain Werner Vermehren, 1909 joined Imperial Germany Navy, 1911 - 12 served aboard Battleship Helgoland, 1912 - 1914 Radio Officer on Small Cruiser SMS Pillau took part in Battle of Skagerrak in which the Pillau was damaged applied for transfer to U Boat service but appointed to Naval Airship Section at Nordholz. From July 1916 commenced training at Marine Luftschiff Abteilung at Nordholz. He flew numerous reconnaissance missions with the L30 Zeppelin over the North Sea and the Baltic. Later he commanded the L30, participating in raids against Oesel Island and Pernau near Riga. In due course he was appointed Commander of the L35 at JuterlogNiedergorsdorf and from December of 1917 he commanded the L42 and the L65, stationed at Nordholz. He carried out many flights and numerous attacks until the end the war when he destroyed the L65 at Nordholz. Erich Rudorffer, Knight's Cross, Oakleaves with Swords. 1000 missions, 302 aerial combat, 222 victories (Battle of Britain). Shot down 16 time, Major Wilheim Batz KC with Swords JG52 flew 445 combat missions and claimed 237 enemy aircraft shot down. 234 of these victories achieved Eastern Front, Major General Carroll W McColpin USAF Volunteered for the RAF Eagle Sqn 11 ½ Victories. 4 Black and White Photo's Vermehren with the crew.
