Fees

Chinese export blue and white tureen and cover, Qianlong (1736-95), the domed cover surmounted with a crown and with mask lug handles surmounted with feather plumes, decorated throughout with peony rock garden, height 29cm, length 33cm

More Information

The lid has a hair crack from the base of the finial cap to the edge of the lid itself, approx. 12cm with associated slither repair to the inside of the cover.
The tureen body has had rubbing damage on each of the handles where the lid has probably knocked off small amounts of the glaze. One of the handle areas has been broken before with a slither of porcelain missing, the rest being re-glued. There is a small chip to the inside rim of the base. There is some water residues on the body and a small area of green paint.
Inside the tureen there is no evidence of cracks, other than a minor hair line crack from the base of one of the handles which extends approx. 2.5cm into the body. Small frits and rubbing commensurate with age.
No further damage.
