A mid 19th century lacquered gilt wood carving of the Zao Jun otherwise known as the ''kitchen god''. Meticulously detailed with ultra fine embossed motifs, ornamental jewel chains decorating his phoenix robes and a benevolent pink face. Holding three gold pieces in his left hand, he is seating upon a backless throne. A beautifully decorated piece. H30 cms.
