Mary O’Carroll (b. 1936) is a highly regarded Dublin based artist who has been painting for over sixty years. Entirely self-taught, she has developed a distinctive style that reflects her independent spirit and dedication to her craft. From her long established studio at 17 Wellington Road, Ballsbridge, she has created a rich body of work that has been exhibited widely across Ireland, including at the Irish Hospice Foundation.
Although she paused her artistic practice for many years, Mary returned to painting with renewed passion following the passing of her husband, encouraged and supported by her dear friend and carer, Sheelagh. This return marked a new chapter in her creative journey, one that carries both the wisdom of lived experience and the freshness of rediscovery. A member of the Dublin Sketchers club, Mary continues to find inspiration in the vibrant community of artists around her, as well as in the rhythms of everyday Dublin life. Her work stands as a testament to resilience, creativity, and the enduring power of art at every stage of life.es.
