India General Service Medal 1854-95 to the South Wales Borderers for the campaign in Burma, medal with single clasp Burma 1887-89, engraved naming, “1720 PTE E. MATTHEWS 2ND BN. S. WALES BORD.”
Born in Taunton, Somerset, 19-year-old Edward Matthews attested for the Regiment at Brecon on 16th January 1886. He is confirmed on the Regimental roll for the medal and clasp and is noted as being dead.
