Clarice Cliff & Laura Knight - Fair Ladies - An Art In Industry circular charger, circa 1934, decorated with a troupe of stylised ladies within an orange flash and black swirl line border, Laura Knight signature and Bizarre mark, printed 'First Edition', diameter 46cm.
NB - This was designed artist Laura Knight for the 1934 Harrods and Art in Industry 'Modern Art for the Table' exhibitions. Marked 'First Edition'. In 1934 Foley China and Clarice Cliff were asked to produce a range of table wares for the exhibitions and notable artists of the day such as Paul Nash, Laura Knight, Duncan Grant, Graham Sutherland, Gordon Forsyth, Ben Nicholson and Barbara Hepworth were invited to submit designs.
AMEDNED CONDITION REPORT - There is a small professional restoration to the very edge of the rim, virtually invisible and only identifiable as there is a patch free from fine crazing. A good repair which does not need reworking and some age related wear to the enameled decoration but commensurate with age.
