A RARE GEORGE III IRISH – LIMERICK SILVER, hallmarked to reverse, impressed with maker’s initials mark of MFG for Maurice Fitzgerald Limerick. Engraved to the reverse of the large scoop with monogram. Of traditional double ended form with a large scoop to one end and a narrow scoop to the other. Dimensions: 22cm long. Weight: 1ozt approx. Fitzgerald is thought to have been apprenticed to Vere Forster of Dublin and granted freedom in 1774. He first registered in Dublin in 1784 and was located at Mary Street & Bridge Street in Dublin in the mid – late 18th century. He was deceased by 1817.
