A serpentine box and cover, the circular serpentine box with detachable lid, the base with silver gilt mounts, the lid with carved leaves and with bead highlights for the berries, marked to the rim '3CS' and Russian Zolotnik mark '84', total weight 317g, presented as a gift from the City of Sverdlovsk now Kekaterinburg, in the Urals area of Russia, on the occasion of the civic visit by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Birmingham in 1955.
