A large French Empire gilt bronze and marble mantel clock, the enamelled dial signed 'Rocquet à Paria' for Jacques-Claude-Martin Rocquet (1765 - 1816) with Roman and Arabic numerals, the case attributed to Claude Galle (1759 - 1815) depicting Hector's Departure from Andromache, above an octagonal clock case, over a green marble base with a panel depicting Hector urging Paris to join him in war, Helen by Troy's side, on stylised paw feet, the twin train French movement with silk suspension and count wheel striking on a bell, movement diameter 12 cm, case 61.5 cm high 49 cm wide Footnote: A similar clock with the same modelling signed 'Galle/ rue Vivienne à Paris' is illustrated in 'Vergoldete Bronzen' (Ottomeyer, P. Proschel et al - Munich 1986 p. 36). Another, signed Lepaute à Paris, was delivered to the Grand Salon of the Petit Trianon in 1805, before being located at Rambouillet in 1806 and the Palais de L'Elysée in 1832 - 'Pendules du Mobilier National 1800 - 1870 (Marie-France Dupuy-Baylet - 2006 pp. 110-112). A further similar example was sold at Sotheby's Paris in 2016 (Lot 252 Robert De Balkany - Day sale 28th Sept.)
