A Chinese celadon-ground famille rose dish, 19th century, of circular form and panted to the centre with two quail on a rocky outcrop, blue seal mark to the underside, 15cm diameter, with a similar larger celadon-ground dish, Japanese imiating Chinese bearing four character Chinese Kaishu script mark, 19cm diameter (2)

The famille rose dish shows minor surface wear to the majority of the pattern, but extensive wear to the green ground, which is all but rubbed away. The rim shows a 3cm long hairline running from the rim towards the foot. The foot rim shows two chips, one approximately 12mm wide, the other 8mm wide. No obvious crazing or evidence of restoration. The Japanese dish shows no obvious chips, cracks, crazing or evidence of restoration.
