£80
A WW1 soldier's pocket diary, covering the period 11th February to 5th May 1915, recording an unnamed individual's journey to the front lines and experience of action, apparently in the vicinity of Ypres
Covers heavily worn with numerous tears. Pages are generally clean, though lightly yellowed with age. Binding is somewhat weakened but all pages remain secure. Entries are written throughout in pencil - initially purple but changing to grey latterly. Script is occasionally smudged, making it difficult to decipher. In the main, however, with a little effort, perfectly legible. Text runs to approx. 41 pages (i.e. 20 leaves). Thereafter, there are occasional single-word entries, apparently place names.
