(Goebel porcelain, founded in 1871, is renowned for its fine porcelain products, particularly the iconic M.I. Hummel figurines, and has a rich history of craftsmanship and innovation.
The Goebel Company was established on January 30, 1871, by Franz Detleff Goebel and his son William Goebel in Oeslau, Germany. Initially, the company produced children's marbles and slate pencils before transitioning to porcelain manufacturing. In 1879, they received permission from the Duke of Coburg to produce porcelain, marking a significant milestone in their history. The first kiln was fired up, and the company began producing dinnerware and decorative items, quickly becoming one of the largest porcelain manufacturers in the region by 1900, employing around 400 workers)
