1840 1d black, Plate 5 (JA), good to very large margins, on cover to Edinburgh, cancelled by very thick strike of the distinctive orange-red Galashiels Maltese cross, showing the small inner star and straight ends to the inner cross, backstamped by Galashiels orange despatch boxed handstamp for NO 26 1840 and Edinburgh arrival cds for the following day.
