A fascinating and important leather bound autograph album compiled in the mid 19th Century by John Ulyatt, Deputy Governor of Wakefield Prison. Original Autographs:- Royalty including all 19th Century British Monarchs :- George III, Prince Regent, George IV, William IV, Queen Victoria. Politicians including Lord Viscount Palmerston (Prime Minister), Lord Melbourne (Prime Minister), 3rd Earl of Mexborough, Spencer Horatio Walpole, Sir George Grey (Home Secretary), Lord Wharncliffe, Lord Houghton (full letter), Lord Broughton (H Hobhouse friend of Lord Byron) George Cruikshank (caricaturist), Samuel Wilderspin (founded infant schools). Bank cheques for Wakefield Bank dated 1802 (the bank failed in 1825), Signatures of Prison Governors of Wakefield, Durham, Beverley, Southwell, Leeds, York Castle. Signatures of the turnkeys of Wakefield old Prison prior to 1840. A Mulready 1 Penny postal sheet circa 1840
