A FRENCH BULLDOG 'GROWLER' TOY, circa 1890-1900, of flocked papier mache construction, with chain lead and hair lined collar, head moves from side to side, it would have opened its mouth and growled when the lead was pulled, all four feet have wooden castors, height 26cm x length 46cm (1) (Condition Report: jaw mechanism and growl not currently working, mouth staying open, some hair and flocking loss, a little wear to papier mache, but otherwise appears ok)
