F[ORCE]."; 16/21 Dec. 1838 pair of ELs (some wrinkles & minor closed tears from Gillespie at the start of the march northwards to his wife in "Kirkee"; the first with boxed "BOMBAY/Bearing" d.s. ex "Camp Bominacote, right bank of the Hujamree branch of the Indus", the other ex "Camp near Vikhur" with the Bombay d.s. and (on the front) a faint red oval "Post Paid/[Vikhur??]", also being endorsed by Gillespie as "Major of Brigade Cavalry, S[cinde]. F[ield]. F[orce]." on the front. Good contents (types transcripts); "...the Native Cavalry is arriving fast... Rumours reached this Camp that Sir Henry Frane would not command in person the combined force of Bengal and Bombay, but that Sir John Keane is to do so... When...sending letters [to me] enclose them to Col. Powell, Adjutant General in Bombay who will forward them with his Officials [i.e. official letters]."
