Terry O'Neill (British 1938-2019) Faye Dunaway, Hollywood, 1977 chromogenic print, printed later; signed and numbered '20/50' in ink in the margin image 35 x 35 cm, framed and glazed 64.5 x 61 cm When photographer Terry O'Neill set out to capture Faye Dunaway's win for Best Actress in 1977 for her role in the film Network, he did not want to capture her in a typical shot taken on Oscar Night. Instead, he arranged to meet Dunaway at The Beverly Hills Hotel at 6:30 a.m. the morning after the parties had wrapped up and the sun had risen on a new day. "She hadn't slept," O'Neill later recalled, "and the implications of a watershed event in her career were only just beginning to dawn on her." The master portraitist's photograph of an exhausted Dunaway as she had breakfast by the pool with the morning newspapers strewn around her has become a defining image of Hollywood. Visible sheet in good condition. Image is in good colour. Clean and ready to hang. Unexamined out of frame.
