Tribal Art: An African mambele / Kpinga weapon with iron blade and woven leather handle, Makaraka / Azande and other tribes, Central Africa. These weapons were only distributed to professional warriors and considered as status symbols. Warriors would carry several into battle concealed behind their shields and were typically hurled at the enemy. 60 cm length.
Condition: Some age related wear as illustrated. Provenance: Private collection, Switzerland, Mr Alfred (Fredy) Spinnler.
