A CHINESE PORCELAIN LONGQUAN CELADON 'LOTUS' DISH
probably Yongle period, with everted rim and raised short foot, decorated with a single stylised lotus plant to the centre of the bowl, the rim and the exterior further adorned with abundant lotus blooms, 4cm high x 19.5cm diameter
The carved decoration on this bowl relates closely to the designs found on blue and white bowls that were produced at the same time during the early Ming period. A Longquan celadon dish incised with a similar design is illustrated by R. Krahl in 'Chinese Ceramics in the Topkapi Saray Museum, vol. 1', London, p. 306, no. 252.
