1851 (Aug 19) Long cover signed in the corner by Charles Elliot, Governor of Bermuda, addressed in his handwriting to "R.M Higgs Esquire, St. Georges" with red Hamilton datestamp on the front. The enclosed letter written and signed by Elliot from Mount Langton, accepting Higgs resignation as Commissioner of the Light House and Pilots with regret. The envelope and letter with repaired tears at left (through the Hamilton datestamp), a unique letter and cover from the Governor. Ex Osborn Collection.
