Naval Interest - Rare Group of Three First World War Medals, awarded to L CL Hilford, Sig. RN (GV.RFR.LSGC. J36215. Dev.B.10590) Born in 1898 and joined the Navy in 1915. He served on HMS Bellerophon in the historic Battle of Jutland in 1916. In 1918 he served on HMS Cassandra, he survived the sinking of this vessel en route to Russia, hit by a Russian mine during the British intervention in the Russian Civil War. The ship sank in the Gulf of Finland, the sinking was on 5th December 1918. This group of medals make is historically significant.
