THIRD AFGHAN WAR, 1919: Group of c.1919-20 period cards & covers incl. 17 Jul. 1919 stampless O.A.S. cover to Southampton endorsed "from Afghan Frontier, Lt. M. Vaughan, 1/69th Punjabis" and having v. fine strike of F.P.O. No. 161 c.d.s., 25 Aug 1919 half anna embossed env. to Chief Medical Officer, Peshawar with v. fine strike of "BASE POST OFFICE" c.d.s. and 3 Oct. 1919 O.A.S. env. to Newbury with 2 line cachet "FIELD SERVICE/POSTAGE FREE". Also a range of PPCs depicting Peshawar, and real photo types depicting the Afghan Peace Delegation, various Military Camps, Border Crossing Points, etc., incl. PPC endorsed "Royal Welch, Landi Kotor, 1920" depicting the Regiment en masse with their mascot (a goat). Also a couple of 1920 Xmas cards, one endorsed "Greetings from the Frontier".
